Poor housing can cause many health hazards. The relationship between poverty and improper housing is usually cyclic, as poverty is the primary cause of inadequate housing and may contribute to different health conditions, such as respiratory illnesses, cardiovascular diseases, nervous system disorders, and cancer.
Providing Basic Needs For All
MESHCOP pioneered local mobilization to build houses for the needy people in Mt. Elgon Region in Uganda in partnership with Habitat for Humanity. Local people contributed bricks, sand, stones and labor. 94 houses are built since 2008 housing over 1000 people mostly children.
