The Skilling Uganda Project
72 million youths in Africa are neither in education, employment or training (ILO, 10/08/2023). In Uganda, 9.3 million youths about 41% of the total population are neither in Education, employment or training. Monitor news paper (18/11/2022) and the Ugandan independent newspaper (04/07/2021) reported 500 girls leaving the country daily to UAE for casual jobs. More than 34% of girls are married before their 18th birthday every year in Uganda, and 1 in 10 is married before turning 15. This was worse during COVID 19.

Capability Building For Self-Determination
MESHCOP since 2008 has embarked local drive to build the capacity of our communities to do things by themselves and move out of poverty. Among these include production of Solar Panels, Production of Liquid and Bar soap, Production of Briquets from Agro Waste and Metal Fabrication.
We have been able to train 500 young people in Africa in these skills in partnership with ILO, SDF and government of Uganda.
